Hey everyone, I'm the solo dev behind IKANDY, a music visualizer for Windows. It listens to whatever you're playing and turns it into visuals live. I've always loved the old Winamp and MilkDrop visualizers, and I wanted that feeling back with graphics that hold up next to a modern video game, so that's what I've been building.
It runs five render engines (GLSL, WGSL, WebGPU compute, Three.js and WARPCORE, my own MilkDrop engine), and they all go through the same HDR post processing. Here's what you get.
Free
1. Window Capture, free and no plugin needed. Add a Window Capture source and pick the IKANDY window. The controls fade out a few seconds after you stop moving the mouse, so the picture stays clean. If it comes up black, set Capture Method to Windows 10 (1903 and up).
2. Spout, with Pro. Install the Spout2 plugin from Off World Live here https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...-with-obs-studio-from-any-spout-program.1384/ then turn on Spout Output in IKANDY (Settings, OUTPUT tab), add a Spout2 Capture source in OBS and pick IKANDY. It sends just the show at up to 4K and 30 fps, so the controls never end up on stream. It's video only, your audio stays however you already have it set up.
Full disclosure since the forum rules ask for it, I build IKANDY with AI coding tools, mostly Claude Code plus some Codex, and they write most of the code and run most of the testing. The overall design, the rules and requirements (security included) and the UI calls are mine, and I decide what ships. I also motion laws, strobe laws for best practices
IKANDY's own scenes and effects are held to a written safety standard for flashing and motion, built on WCAG 2.3.1 and ITU-R BT.1702 for flashes and ISO 2631-1 for motion sickness. The MilkDrop presets are community made and aren't covered by it, so the usual flashing lights warning still applies.
I'm not going to say it's bug free, it's just me on this, so if something breaks or looks off, post it in this thread and I'll jump in and help. Feedback good or bad is welcome, I read all of it!

Free
- Over 500 reactive visuals (440 MilkDrop presets, 117 HDR WarpField visuals, shader scenes, 3D fractals and WebGPU worlds), and nothing you can watch is locked
- Import your own folder of MilkDrop presets
- HDR on HDR monitors, and wider color on P3 displays
- Fullscreen on any of your monitors, up to 4K
- It finds your music on its own (Spotify, foobar2000, MusicBee, VLC, Chrome, Edge and Firefox) and only listens to that app, so Discord, game audio and OBS itself won't set it off
- PILOT, which changes scenes on the bars and drops of the song
- F9 saves the last 30 seconds as a clip, Shift+F9 records
- One Small Step, a shared moon with other players where everyone's music paints the sky

- Spout output up to 4K at 30 fps, for OBS, TouchDesigner, Resolume and more
- Wallpaper mode, live visuals behind your desktop icons, HDR included
